It was decided to open an investigation into the rail incident that occurred on August 27, 2026, at 2:40 p.m. within the area of operation of the Craiova Regional Branch of the Romanian Railways (CF), Piatra Olt Traffic Section – Băbeni (single-track, non-electrified line) caused by damage to the 500 Hz track inductor of the Y-end entry signal at the Drăgășani CFR station by a component that had detached from the Desiro 2014 railcar, which was part of passenger train No. 2521 (belonging to the passenger rail operator SNTFC “CFR Călători” SA).
